A Note From Mr. Witherspoon:
I want to start off by thanking all of the members of the Cleveland Community for such a warm welcome! The amount of support that I have received from the students, staff, and community has been overwhelming and I couldn't be prouder to be a part of the Cleveland Eagle family!!!!
The Walk-A-Thon is just one example of how wonderful and supportive this community is of our school. The $12,000 goal was shattered by almost $4000 due to the overwhelming generosity of our community!!! This money will go directly into supporting our students in form of classroom materials, interactive computer programs, fun evening events, etc. Please, if you have done it yet, consider joining the PTA (it doesn't mean you have to plan any events 😊; unless you want too).
I am looking forward to partnering with each one the members of our community as we strive to make the students' educational experience one that last a lifetime!

THIRD GRADE READING BILL
Are you familiar with the third grade-reading bill? This is sometimes referred to as Public Act 306 or House Bill No. 4822. At parent-teacher conferences, you will receive a copy of your child's fall assessment results. The focus of parent-teacher conferences won't be on the report card, which comes home in December, but rather your child's current progress academically and socially. To address this fall data, every classroom will have a designated period of each day devoted to providing additional supports to struggling learners and enrichment/extension activities for children who are scoring at or above grade level on their assessments. We will also count on you for a home plan to help your child be successful with their grade level expectations. This Third Grade Reading link contains many informational documents from Wayne County RESA, which highlights the third grade-reading bill and the importance of early literacy. Thank you for being an active partner in your child's education!
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders:
Thank you for following the loop around to drop off your child(ren) at the appropriate drop-off area!!! Safety is our #1 priority and, as you know, it can get pretty congested out there. The school year is moving pretty quickly and, by now, students are so incredibly independent during arrival and dismissal that they almost forget to give their family members that hug or wave goodbye! Please stop in to the office, should you need to come in for any reason, to sign in and get a visitor badge.
