March 25 - April 12

"Life is better when we don't try to do everything. Learn to enjoy the slice of life you experience, and life turns out to be wonderful."  - Leo Babauta

A Note From Mr. Witherspoon:

Greeting to all of our Cleveland Eagle Families!!!  I am finding it hard to believe that Spring Break is almost here!  The years seem to be moving faster than any of the ones in the past!  I can't tell you how appreciative I am of the hard work that we are all doing to provide such a positive experience for our Eagles.

"Take time to smell the roses," is a saying that I'm sure we have heard from time to time.  The phrase suggests that we slow down, relax, and enjoy the simple beauties in life.  I know this is easier said than done when we are trying to get 48 hours worth of work done in a 24 hour period (and often less).  However, taking a few minutes (to begin with) a day to give your children some undivided attention will have benefits that will last a lifetime.  You will find that it truly is a win-win scenario as the pure enjoyment of talking with children will give you an opportunity to enjoy one of life's beauties...them.

We have been talking to the students this month about "whole-body listening" as a common practice whenever we are talking to each other.  "Whole-body listening," is when we stop moving, and give the speaker our undivided attention with both our eyes and ears.  This skill is something that you can practice at home as you take a few minutes to enjoy the simple beauty of the conversations at home with you children.

The Eagle of the Month assembly was last week and we were able to celebrate many more Eagles that consistently demonstrated S.O.A.R.ing behavior!  This competition for the recognition is heating up as the students are working harder and harder each month to be honored!  The teachers are finding it difficult in selecting only two students for this honor!  The character trait that we will focus on for the next month is Mindfulness.  Teachers will talk with students about how to be aware of their own feelings and those feelings of people around us.  This skill will allow our students to slow down, think of their feelings and/or thoughts, and respond to situations in ways that are positive and productive.

Thank you again for your partnership and all you do in support of each of our learners!

Please, as always, give me a call or email if you have any questions/concerns/compliments regarding Cleveland!!!!

"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."

A Note From Mr. Witherspoon:

Greeting to all of our Cleveland Eagle Families!!!  I hope that you are all doing well and, now that Spring Training is officially underway in Florida, we will soon be seeing some warmer weather to accompany baseball!

Motivation to be active is challenging during this time of the year, but it's a necessity.  Please take some time for yourself to become more active as you are the most vital piece of the success of your child!  I know, personally speaking, how easy it is to put myself last (or turn on the television and have a snack) and not take care of myself physically and/or emotionally.  Leading a healthier lifestyle is another great way to be a role model as well as spend some quality time with your children (plus it is great motivation...they will remind you).

March Reading Month is here!!!  We kicked off the month last Friday with a "Who is the Guest Reader?" assembly and it was wonderful!  Our three mystery guest readers were Mrs. Shovely, State Representative Laurie Pohutsky, and D.J. Flip from Airtime!!!  I have listed below the Spirit Days that we will be doing this month.  Please plan on coming to our Reading Night on March 28th as we will have a night of fun, dressed like superheros, reading and doing crafts!!!

We will continue to focus on Integrity this month as we strive to teach our students to be the best people they can be!!! Please continue having conversations with your child about what it means to have integrity when the opportunity presents itself (and it will 😄).  These conversations, when they are hearing the same consistent message between home and school, will go a long way.

Thank you again for your partnership and all you do in support of each of our learners!
