“One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation.” - Arthur Ashe
A Note From Mr. Witherspoon:
The Cleveland Eagles are on a roll and truly in "mid-season form"! The staff and students have been working incredibly hard (sprinkled with a whole bunch of fun) during the second trimester.
The second round of W.I.N. Time (What I Need) is beginning as we have looked at the student data and identified specific areas of growth and challenges for each student. Reading Proficiency Reports will be coming home with the students this week; please give us a call if you have any questions and/or concerns.
The safety of our students is paramount and, in efforts of maintaining a safe learning environment for our students, I am asking you to have conversations with your children about safe (physical and emotional) behaviors they should have while they are at school (especially at recess). We are seeing many students that are "play fighting", using inappropriate language/unkind words, and/or being too aggressive (hitting, pushing, etc.)while at recess; all of which encroach on the physical and emotional safety of other students. The conversations with your children could be directed about recess and possibly give them some ideas for games they can play. I am hoping that with our combined effort we can assist the students with experiencing success in this area as well.
Spring will be here before we know it (pitchers and catchers report on February 12 for you baseball fans) and we have a lot of work to put in. We are going to continue to work each day to prepare our students to be the highest soaring eagles out there!
Please, as always, give me a call or email if you have any questions/concerns/compliments regarding Cleveland!!!!
Stay Awesome and Keep SOARing Eagles!!!!

Mrs. Collins (3rd Grade Teacher)
Hello! I am Mary Collins and I've loved working at Cleveland for over 20 years. I'm grateful every day for this privilege. I am from a family of eight children. Now I am married and have two children of my own. In the summer you'll most likely find me on a Michigan beach, or on my bike on a bike trail. In the winter when I'm not playing euchre, you might find me in the snow on cross-country skis, or cheering for the Michigan State Spartans basketball team. A few unusual adventures I've enjoyed include riding on a camel, taking a hot air balloon ride, and jumping off a 30+ foot cliff into the Ligurian Sea (two years ago). Next I'm looking forward reading the book, BECAUSE OF WINN DIXIE with our third grade class. If you're looking for a good book, that could be a good choice for you, too!
