October 28 - November 1

"Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them." - James Baldwin

A Note From Mr. Witherspoon:

Greetings from Cleveland!!!  We are well on our way and the students are progressing so incredibly fast, both academically and social-emotionally!  Thank you all the hard work that you continue to put in at home!  The work is paying off and will continue to pay off as our Eagles will SOAR higher than any other!

Please continue to be cognizant of the arrival and dismissal times.  The learning that takes place throughout a day is extensive and we need each minute with them.  I have noticed many student being checked out of school prior to the end of the school day.  We understand that some things can't be avoided; however, patterns of tardiness or leaving early can have adverse effects on the learning of children.

Please, as always, give me a call or email if you have any questions/concerns/compliments regarding Cleveland!!!!

Stay Awesome and Keep SOARing Eagles!!!!

Notes for the Week:

Picture Retake Day: Monday, October 28
NOTE:  Please send back the original pictures that were sent home with your child.

Spirit Day:  Friday, November 1st: Pajama Day!!!

Award winning Social-Emotional Educator Brooks Gibb's is coming to present "Raise them Strong"!!!!!  We are fortunate to be able to welcome Brooks Gibb's on November 4, 2019 to speak with our families about empowering our children to advocate for themselves with they encounter a bully!

Mr. Gibb's will be at the Franklin Performing Art's Center on November 4, 2019 at 6 pm (doors open at 5:30 pm).  Seats are limited to this event and, as a result, we will be sending out a form that will allow you to RSVP.  The video above is an example of the work that Mr. Gibb's does with kids.  The following link will take you to learn more information about him:  https://www.brooksgibbs.com/

Eagle of the Month!!! We celebrated many of our Eagles this past week and look forward to celebrating more next month!!!!  The theme for this month is "Responsibility"; take some time to talk with your children about what this looks like at home and at school.

Next Celebration: Friday, November 8, 2019 (K-2 @ 9:15 am; 3rd-4th grade @ 10 am)

Running Late:  Parents/Guardians are required to come into the building to sign their students in after 8:55 am; this will allow students to begin their academic day sooner.  Thank you for you cooperation!!!

Recess Notes:

  • Recess time is a busy time and many students are doing a great job playing appropriately while on the playground.  Conversations with your children about what they are doing at recess can lead into more conversations about what they are learning in school.  The bonus with this is that you can also assist us with ensuring that they are choosing school-safe games to play during this time. Win-Win!!!

Health/Safety:

  • Please remember to check in at the main office if you are entering the building; including after school as we still have many students in the building. Thank you for your assistance!
  • Fever or vomiting students should remain out of school until they are symptom free for 24 hours.
